Editing Services for Indie Authors
A Miracle Touch for Stories
That Were Born to Shine
Meet the Editor
Hello!Hi! I’m Alyssa Miracle, the editor behind Miracle Editing Co.
A millennial mom, new dog mom, and happily married for many years. I can almost always be found with a book in hand or an audiobook playing in my ear; reading is how I stay sane, learn, and get inspired. Besides reading, I really enjoy heels, hip-hop, and hula-hoop dancing, camping and exploring the outdoors, and going to concerts with friends.
I hold an associate’s degree and am always enrolled in some sort of extended learning course to keep my skills sharp and current because I believe good editing is both craft and continual growth. My approach is warm and collaborative—I’m here to lift your story up, cheer you on, and help you learn as we shape your work into the best version it can be. In my work I lean more friendly and casual rather than strict and rigid; after all, we’re all here because we love books, so let’s enjoy the process together.
Editing brings me such genuine joy, and I would be delighted to bring that joy and love to your manuscript.
Am I the right editor for you?

& Pricing

Before we work together, it’s important to me that we both feel confident about collaborating on your manuscript. I offer a free sample edit so you can see my approach, tone, and the kind of improvements I’ll make—no obligation, no pressure!
Request a free sample edit for either Copy / Line Editing or Proofreading. I’ll edit a short excerpt of your manuscript (up to 1,000 words) and return it with clear, trackable changes and a brief note explaining my approach and key suggestions. That way you can evaluate the style, attention to detail, and whether my voice matches yours before committing.
What’s included:
Copy / Line Editing: sentence-level clarity, style and tone adjustments, tightening, consistency, grammar and punctuation fixes, and comments on pacing and voice where applicable (see more detail under Copy / Line Editing).
Proofreading: final-pass correction of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting inconsistencies (see more detail under Proofreading).

I always offer Copy and Line Editing services as a package deal.
Great writing needs both the big-picture polish and the sentence-level finesse. If I spot an area that can be improved, why skip over it? You get a single, cohesive pass that lifts your content while preserving your voice.
What’s included:
Line editing
Sentence-level clarity and flow: smoothing awkward phrasing and improving rhythm
Word choice and tone: selecting precise, consistent language that fits your voice
Concision and Sentence structure: removing unnecessary words and tightening sentences
Pacing and paragraph transitions: improving readability and logical movement
Redundancy and variety: fixing repetitive and stereotypical words and/or phrases
Flagging or adjusting passive voice and weak verbs when they affect impact
Copy editing
Grammar, punctuation, and mechanics: correct spelling, commas, semicolons, quotation usage, etc.
Consistency checks: capitalization, hyphenation, number formatting, and standardizing stylistic choices (Oxford comma, serial number formats, etc.)
Fact-check and time-line flags: noting inconsistencies or unclear references (verification not included)
Pricing $0.01 per word (discounts available for new clients!)

Your book is almost ready—yay! Let me go through it one more time to make sure it’s polished and production ready. This final proofreading pass catches any lingering grammatical errors, spelling slips, punctuation inconsistencies, and small formatting issues so your manuscript shines exactly the way you intended before it goes to print or upload.
What’s included:
Correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors
Fixing typos and repeated words
Ensuring consistent capitalization and hyphenation
Checking sentence-level clarity (minor rewrites for readability, not developmental edits)
Consistency checks for names, places, dates, and numbers
Verifying proper use of quotation marks and dialogue punctuation
Correcting formatting issues like paragraph breaks, extra spaces, and inconsistent indentation
Pricing $0.003 per word (discounts available for new clients!)
